Minutes of the
Winter meeting
December 4, 1999

The Prez welcomed all to the 1999 Winter Meeting at the Cumberland State Forest.
Labor Day minutes were read and accepted. The Treasurer clarified that $1,300 mentioned in the Labor Day minutes was included in, not in addition to, the money reported in the last treasurers report. The treasurer reported a $4160.17 bank account and a $6089.54 CD.
The newsletter editor was reminded to include e-mail and web-site addresses in the newsletter. Those not paying dues by April 15 will be dropped from the roster and not receive a state newsletter. (I was beginning to wonder if those paying dues would receive one either.) Jim Garner accepted the task of sending a reminder postcard to members not paid up by April 1.
Bill Tanger reported the plan for a New River Bend Park near Pearisburg (site of the Labor Day meeting) has some problems with neighboring landowners along Walker Creek. Options include dividing the property

between park and development and protecting the Walker Creek area. Money raised now totals $10,000.
Cris Leonard reported Johns Creek open below new put in, not above.
The FFV Y2K calendar found elsewhere in this letter was approved.
The officers as listed in this letter were approved. Larry Born is president elect.
Jim Garner reported that State Forestry had been given 25 acres on the Shenandoah and asked that FFV advise on use, access, protection, etc.
Jim asked that FFV be represented at up coming Forest Legacy program meetings. Joel Artman volunteered.
The Randy Carter Award was discussed at length. The one remaining statue will go with this years award to be given at the VIP. Options and costs of statues, plaques, etc. will be presented at the next meeting.
The VIP will be June 24 on ten miles of the Dan below Danville and responsibilities and budget are:
