Food and Fun
At Winter Meeting
December 1

Jim Garner will be preparing his annual fish fry following the Winter meeting, December 1, at the Cumberland State Forest. In order to hold costs down and not be wasteful - PLEASE notify Jim if you plan on staying for dinner. He will prepare food based on the people who let him know. Also, there are a few beds left unreserved; if you plan to stay overnight, he needs to hear from you.

The Sporting Clay range is CLOSED since it has been turned over to a private vendor. You can make an appointment for Saturday or Sunday after 1pm by calling 804/492-9526. Charge $15 per shooter, bring own gun and shells.

See you December 1,
At Cumberland State Forest!

Directions: Take route 60 west to Cumberland; 2 miles west of downtown Cumberland, turn left on Route 628. Proceed approximate 3 miles to stop sign. Go straight through gate to State Forest building.

The President's Paddle

Hello fellow paddlers and fishermen,

Well, we had another full year of paddling and socializing on the rivers. The food was outstanding, the fishing was great, and the beverages hit the spot, but as usual, the summer was too short.
The Labor Day float was on the James River at David’s Creek this year. Although the water level was down, the James still provided two fun-filled days. Thanks to the Ethyl River Chapter for hosting the float and providing an outstanding supper Saturday night. I hope we didn’t wear out our welcome. Looking forward to being invited back real soon.
As you all know, the December meeting is the most important meeting of the year. It is our planning meeting for next year events. The meeting will begin at 1:00 pm on December 1, 2001. Make plans to attend. We will meet at The Cumberland State Forest. If you plan on spending the night, contact Jim Garner to reserve beds. If you don’t get reservations, there is plenty of floor space so bring your sleeping bags. Also, contact Jim if you plan on eating supper with us so he will know how much food to purchase. The cost will be divided among those who partake. Hope to see all of you there.
I need inputs from all chapters so we can put together an agenda for the December meeting. Send inputs to me at leborn8346@yahoo.com or 8609 Farys Mill Rd. Gloucester, VA 23061

        See ya at the meeting.
