The President's Paddle
Hello fellow Paddlers and Fishermen,
The Memorial Day float will be
on the Rappahannock River at
R5 on May 24th thru the 27th ; the VIP float will be
at David Creek on the James River on the weekend of July 13/14. Directions
to Memorial Day Float at R5 and to the VIP Float at David Creek are
included in this newsletter. Directions are also available on our website under Trip Schedule.
We’re still in the planning
stage for the VIP float. The preliminary float on April the 6th
went well. We had an outstanding day on the river despite the cold nights.
The lunch spot and the take-out appear to be well suited for our float.
I would like to remind
the membership that the VIP float is for our guests. Each of our guests
will need a canoe and a sponsor to guide them down the river. I am sure
everyone will pitch in and help make this a memorable event for our
guests. Food and beverage will be provided to our guests, members and
families, along with entertainment on Saturday night. Breakfast will be
served to our guests on Sunday morning.
Betty Jo and I attended the
George Dickel Chapter Spring Float the weekend of April 13/14. We floated
the James River Saturday and the Rockfish River on Sunday. Everyone had a
great time on the river, followed up with good food, fun and beverage.
Thanks to Bob & Ginnie Peck for allowing us to camp at their home.
Next it was on to R5 on the 27th
of April. We really enjoyed ourselves chowing down at the Headsuckin’.
The Randy Carter Chapter had a big turnout and good fun was had by
everyone. Lots of fun on the river, with plenty of crawdads, fixins’ and
liquid refreshments at the end of the day.
One of our new members, Nikki Maynard, won a Blue Hole Prowler
canoe that the Randy Carter Chapter raffled off. Talk about an excited
young lady! Congratulations
Nikki !!!
I need inputs from all
chapters so we can put together an agenda for the Memorial Day meeting.
Send inputs to me at leborn8346@yahoo.com
or 8609 Farys Mill Rd. Gloucester, VA 23061
See
ya at the Memorial Day float,
