Membership Information

All Wet on the Elk

The key benefit of membership is the people you meet. Membership provides opportunities to learn new techniques, paddle new waters, and discover new friends. Over a period of time returning members can take pleasure in practicing their technique, revisiting familiar waters, and -- most importantly --enjoying old friends.

Members have access to information on water levels, potentially dangerous river conditions, put-in and take-out locations, conservation concerns, and other issues of importance to boaters through local chapter and state business meetings, message boards and web sites, and of course, individual contacts.

Members also receive the award winning "Fishing' Pole, Pack & Paddle" the Float Fishermen of Virginia's informative and entertaining quarterly newsletter that provides information about upcoming events, minutes of state meetings, financial reports and other information about the business of FFV, plus water-related news in general on a state-wide basis. Not available on newsstands!

During the height of the winter months RVC members in good standing have access to the Gator Aquatic Center pool for a nominal fee to practice paddle and roll technique in the comfort of the great indoors. (check the message board for the schedule!)

In partial payment for the use of the pool during the winter, as summer winds down members provide safety assistance for the Gator's Annual September Lake Swim at Smith Mountain Lake.

Roanoke Valley Chapter dues are $25.00 per year for a family membership. Of this amount, $20.00 goes to the state treasury for state functions and $5.00 stays with the local chapter to finance general operating expenses. Membership is from January 1st through December 31st each year.

For more information about the chapter, contact any officer listed on our HOME page, or query the Message Board. Better yet, come to one of our monthly meetings and find out what we're all about.
