The State FFV Summer Float (and by extension, the old "VIP Float") will be combined with the Kid's Float in cooperation with the Charlottesville Recreation Department. Camping will be available at the Slate River Property and the float itself will take place on a yet to be determined nearby section of the James.
This event is an outgrowth of the 2007 "Kid's Float" organized by Dickel chapter member Erica Simms. Last year's effort involved 30 volunteers, including many FFVers. They led a group of city kids, many of whom had never seen a river, down the James from Scottsville to Hardware Landing.
