The Roanoke Valley Chapter of the Float Fishermen of Virginia (FFV) is a varied group of boaters that includes rafters, kayakers & canoeist. We do whitewater paddling, flat water fishing, and everything in between. Most importantly, we all pull together when it comes to protecting our waterways. When not on the water, we gather on the last Wednesday of each month (except August & December) at the Roanoker Restaurant. Starting at 7:30 p.m. meetings are likely to include stories of past trips, planning for future ones, reports on projects, updates on access and conservation issues, safety issues, and more. Many folks come early for dinner and networking with other boaters. Come and join us, shake a hand or two, meet someone with the same boating interests, and just have some fun for a change! |

Most of the events listed are organized by the Roanoke Valley or other chapters of FFV. State wide events, in which all of the various chapters gather together are also listed. In addition, other events organized by groups not necessarily associated with FFV, are listed because they may be of interest to members. Additional information, including maps and directions can sometimes be found at the state or chapter web sites. Ad hoc trips are organized as water levels and weather allow. Check the Message Board for these; and check the state FFV web site schedule for other chapter & state events. Note that rafting trips are not listed here. Contact Bill Tanger directly for schedules, or click here for more information Descriptions and difficulty ratings, when available, are intended as a guide only. Individual participants, whether member or guest, are responsible for researching river sections independently to determine suitability, and are always responsible for his or her own safety. Do not attempt rivers or rapids which lie beyond your ability! Additional trips will be posted as leaders volunteer, so check back often. Members -- please inform the webmaster of any errors, corrections, and of course additions that need to be posted. |
